THE ALBUM OF THE DAY
THE BEATLES...Yellow Submarine  (1969)
"Yellow Submarine" was released 45 years ago in January 1969.  It reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard album charts.  Side 1 is the Beatles, side 2 is music from the movie conducted by George Martin.  All 6 songs on side 1 are excellent.  George went psychedelic on his 2 tracks, John rocked on his and Paul was rather charming on his track.  The other 2 had been previously released, the title track and 'All You Need Is Love.'  Side 2 is actually very pleasant listening.  Check it out, I recommend it
(CD, vinyl, Allmusic review)
