30 YEARS 30 years ago today...where were you? Do you remember? (Click on the comment button below and let us know) I was watching Monday Night Football. Howard Cossell told me. Just a few moments earlier a friend of mine called me and told me he had just heard that Lennon had been shot earlier that day and that he was fine. I hung up the phone, walked back to the TV and a few seconds later it was announced. He was only 40, just got back into the music business, had a new fabulous album out with Double Fantasy, this could not be the case. Instantly I felt as if I had lost a family member or a very close friend. In a strange sort of way John was our friend. That day was December 8, 1980, when I was a mere 16 years old. BOOM, he was...gone, so violently, so quickly...so unnecessarily. I prayed to God to be with John's wife and kids. I asked Him why? 30 years later I still ask God why. No words could I put here today that would be a fitting tribute, no words that could make it easier to absorb or understand, no words that can bring back the 30 years, no words that can stop what happened. I must admit this is probably the second saddest anniversary of his death I've ever felt, the first being the first anniversary. I've often looked at how many albums both Ringo and Paul have put out over the years and wondered would John have released so many albums, too? I like to think so. Using song titles of John's is how I would like to close this: Imagine Giving Peace A Chance, with Love, Across The Universe, we could Come Together and Help each other One Day (At A Time)
