THE ALBUM OF THE DAY
BOSTON...Don't Look Back (1978)
Don't Look Back was released 35 years ago in 1978 and it reached number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Album Charts. I'll give it a 4 out of 5 stars and is highly recommended. Boston did fall into the envious but yet dreadful trap of having to try and match and/or meet the expectations of their previous HUGE hit album Boston, their debut. Sales and the quality of Don't Look Back do not match those of Boston but that takes nothing away from this record. It is quite good. In my opinion the opening title track is better than anything on Boston. The guitar riffs are fantastic. "Feelin' Satisfied" and "Party" are also some very cool highlights. Pull your old record out and enjoy it again, today

The ALBUM OF THE DAYRINGO STARR...Ringo's Rotogravure (1976)
(CD, vinyl, Allmusic review)
This album went to number 28 on the U.S. Billboard charts in 1976. When I mentioned to a friend that I was playing Rotogravure today he said "Rotogravure"? Really? Come on!" I'm definitely one that believes Ringo is never given his due. OK, he's not as talented a songwriter as John, Paul and George. OK, he was just the drummer for the Beatles, but a fabulous drummer he is. He is a much better musician than most folks will give him credit for. And yes, come on, this is a good record. And the talent he has on the album is impressive: John, Paul, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Melissa Manchester, Dr. John. Plus, George Harrison wrote one of the best songs Ringo ever recorded as a solo artist for this release, "I'll Still Love You." Other highlights..."Cookin' (In The Kitchen Of Love)", which was the last recording John Lennon was involved in until he recorded his "Double Fantasy" album 4 years later. I like the record but if you don't have the respect for Ringo that he deserves you should skip it
