Meet The Beatles was released 50 years ago today in 1964. It reached number 1 on the U.S. Billboard album charts (DUH!), What can be said about the Beatles that hasn't already been written before? Nothing. Nothing whatsoever. Is this a great album? Of course. The fact that it is 50 years old is hard to grasp. Yours truly was born 32 days later. I was glad to pull out the vinyl and listen to this today. I didn't have to dust it off as I do play my Beatles often. It is as fantastic today as it was 50 years ago and will be 50 years from now. The Byrds recorded "Mr. Tambourine Man", written by Bob Dylan. Did you
know that CBS Records insisted that Hollywood musicians be used rather
than the band? Jim McGuinn is the only group member to play on the
track.
1968 Bob Dylan made his first public appearance since his
motorcycle accident 2 years earlier. He performed with the Band at
Carnegie Hall in New York City.
1982 Ozzy Osbourne is treated at a hospital in Des Moines, Iowa after biting off the head of a bat
1988 The Beatles are inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, with Mick Jagger as their presenter

Dave Ellefson of Megadeth loses his lawsuit against Dave Mustaine in a
New York federal court. The court ruled Ellefson relinquished his
share of royalties due to a prior agreement
