THE ALBUM OF THE DAY
BRYAN ADAMS...Cuts Like a Knife  (1983)
Cuts Like A Knife, the third album from Bryan Adams, was released 30 years ago in 1983 and it reached number 8 on the U.S. Billboard album charts.  This is a very good record and we give it a 4 out of 5 stars.  It had been a very long time since I had heard this album. In fact, with the exception of the 3 popular tracks ("This Time," "Straight From The Heart" and the title track) it was as if I was hearing a new album.  Because of their familiarity those 3 tracks were the highlights but that doesn't take away from the rest of the album.  "What's It Gonna Be" was a catchy rocker while "Don't Leave Me Lonely" had me headbangin'. Adams and producer Bob Clearmountain crafted a true rock 'n' roll album with good songs, Adams powerful vocals and a good mixture of hard rock and cool power ballads.  As I  was getting this review ready I played it twice. I recommend you do the same.
(CD, vinyl)
