The ALBUM OF THE DAY
THE BEATLES...Love (2006)
(CD/DVD, vinyl, Allmusic review)
Originally released in 2006, it was recently released in iTunes with two extra tracks so now Love has reentered the U.S. Billboard charts at #37. A Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas was first brought up by George Harrison. One thing led to another and now a show was created. The music was given a new treatment by Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin. The result ended up being so much more pleasant than you would have thought. Classic tracks mixed together and given the mashed-up treatment. The album has been given mixed reviews by critics and fans alike, as if to say "how dare you tamper with the holy grail!" This fan says "Nice job, fellas." The best was to listen to this album is to buy the CD/DVD edition and play the DVD on a 5.1 surround system. A very nice experience. The demo tape of "While My Guitar gently Weeps" was originally released on Anthology III in 1996 and is included on this set, but with a new orchestral recording accompanying it. That track alone is worth the price you pay, it is that phenomenal. I recommend this one, and if you're a skeptical Beatles fan try it, you may be surprised
