R.I.P. Gary Moore

THE ALBUM OF THE DAY

HEART...Red Velvet Car (2010)
(CD, Allmusic review)

What a delight it was listening to this CD. Red Velvet Car was released last year and it reached number 10 on the U.S. Billboard album chart. It should have gotten higher, as Ann and Nancy Wilson turned out another fabulous record. Heart IS the main reason that I wish there were more female rockers out there. On this album the girls showcase all their musical talents, demonstrated on their Led Zeppelin influenced rockers ("WTF", "Wheels" and "Death Valley") and also on their softer sounding tracks ("Hey You" is phenomenal). This album doesn't have the 80's sounding Heart, it's more closer to the 70's Heart, but don't expect to find a "Barracuda" on this one. These 10 tracks are the girls in the 2000's, and it was a very enjoyable listen. I will highly recommend this one
