The ALBUM OF THE DAY
ALBERT KING/STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN...In Session (1999)
(CD/DVD, DVD, vinyl, Allmusic review)

Originally recorded in 1983 Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan delivered a most entertaining performance. The recording saw a release in 1999 and is now available in a CD/DVD combo pack, and is currently number 52 on the Billboard U.S. album charts. Note: the vinyl LP only has 4 of the songs on it. I knew that I was going to be impressed with the album before I ever put it on. What I didn't know is HOW impressive it is. I could use all the adjectives: great, outstanding, phenomenal, genius, fantastic, etc., etc. I think it would be best if you checked it out yourself if you're into the blues. The in-between chatter is very interesting to listen to. Vaughan was heavily influenced by Albert and many other blues players, and King was impressed with Stevie Ray. These 2 guys played their hearts out that night, their guitar work is rather impressive and captivating. Recommended, easily!
